WELCOME TO THE CAPIC CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER! OUR STAFF IS WORKING TOGETHER TO PROVIDE YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN WITH HIGH QUALITY, AFFORDABLE DAY CARE SERVICE. WE ENCOURAGE THE PARENTS TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR PHILOSOPHY, CENTER RULES AND REGULATIONS. BUT MOST OF ALL, WE WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE IN KNOWING THAT OUR POLICIES ARE DESIGNED FOR THE PROTECTION AND WELL BEING OF THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WE SERVE.
Our Philosophy:
Our philosophy is to provide a program that meets the fundamental growth and developmental needs of children who are outside of their homes for a large part of the day. Enrollment in the program allows parents & guardians to maintain full-time employment, strengthens family support systems, and benefits the communities.
Eligibility:
The center provides child care for children ages eight weeks to six years:
- For parents/guardian: continuing paid employment (30hours or more per week).
- Enrolled in a training program and/or attending school full time (30 hours or more per week).
- Child has a diagnosed disability or an incapacity of parent/guardian has been documented by a physician.
- Foster parent is working or enrolled in a training program.
- The parent/guardian must meet the income guidelines as established by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), be voucher eligible, or referred by the Department for Children and Families (DCF) for a family preservation slot
- For eligibility, please check with the Administrative Office
- Voucher slots are accepted based on availability.
- Private Slots are available for families that do not meet the income eligibility guidelines for a contracted slot (sliding scale fee).
Services Provided:
- Developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschool children including language, reading, literature, mathematics, science, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, health, art and music.
- Nutricious meals including breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.
- Any child in need of screening, evaluation or individual counseling will be referred to a community resource for treatment.
- Groups and workshops are conducted at the center by outside organizations to help children deal with a variety of issues.
- The center also provides a supportive social and emotional atmosphere, which enhances the child’s self image and fosters respect for racial, ethnic, linguistic and developmental diferences.
- The CAPIC CDC tries to expose the children to an environment rich in culture and activities. This exposure helps children understand and respect differences, while incorporating sensitivity to unique social and family practices.
- We have a kindergarten class where we provide after school care for children attending public school ages 5 to 7 years old.
Staff
The center has a dedicated and nurturing team of teachers working together to offer the best care to the children. Staff receives monthly supervision and periodic reviews by the Program Director to ensure quality of care. Many of our teachers have Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education and/or have been licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)a. The center always encourages the teachers to continue their education and to assist in workshops; they are also CPR & First Aid trained.
Parents/guardians:
The parents are welcome to come and visit anytime; as well as to call if they want to check how their child’s day is going. Our staff believes that daily communication is important between the parents and staff, and we make every effort to keep the lines of communication open.
Age Requirements:
- Infant Classroom: Child must be 8 weeks to 15 months of age.
- Toddler Classroom: Child must be 15 months to 2.9 years of age.
- Pre-School Classrooms: Child must be 2.9 years to 6 years of age.
- Kindergarten Classroom: Child must be 5 years to 7 years of age
